CHOOSING TO ADOPT

There are a variety of reasons why people choose to adopt a child. The most basic reason may be a desire to build or expand a family, but there are other reasons that often play into why a specific couple makes the choice. Infertility is simply the medical inability to bear children and it could be either partner. Adoption is often the only alternative available to these couples. Even if they already have children of their own, an infertile couple may choose to adopt in order to grow their family.
Other couples choose to adopt simply to give a needy child the kind of life he or she would not otherwise be able to have, either through loss or abandonment of their own parents. A couple who make this kind of choice believe in some way they are making the world a better place, even if for only one child. These feelings often grow out of their religious, ethical, or emotional makeup and is a means of saving the world, one child at a time.
