Feeling like an outsider is fairly common among adopted children and this feeling is intensified when there are also birth children in the family. The experience of recognizing their biological traits in other members of the family is something that is missed, even if they don't realize they are missing it. The forces of nature and nurture are glaringly apparent in mixed families and their feelings should always be recognized, acknowledged, and talked through. Feeling like an outsider in your own family is at best an uncomfortable position to be in, but unconditional love can go a long way toward easing the ramifications of those feelings.
